2002 - SpaceX is founded by Elon Musk with the goal of reducing space transportation costs to enable colonalization of Mars.

2008 - SpaceX achieves the first privately funded liquid-fueled rocket to reach orbit (Falcon 1 Flight 4).

2010 - Falcon 9 Flight 2. SpaceX tests its Falcon 9 and a fully functioning Dragon capsule combination in a launch from Cape Canaveral.The rocket returns, with SpaceX becoming the first privately funded company to successfully launch, orbit, and recover a spacecraft.

2015 - The first stage of a Falcon 9 rocket touches down successfully after delivering a group of satellites to Earth orbit. Previous attempts to gently land a Falcon 9’s first stage had failed.

2018 - Falcon Heavy successfully lifts off on its demonstration flight. The rocket carried a Tesla Roadster into space.

2020 - SpaceX flew its first-ever human spaceflight mission, with NASA astronauts Doug Hurley and Bob Behnken hopping a ride on a Crew Dragon to the International Space Station.
